The Hindu’s Sangeetha Devi Dundoo noted in a critical review, “It isn’t Kiara Advani’s fault that she looks lost in the melee.” She made a cameo in Johar’s ensemble period film Kalank, directed by Abhishek Varman, that same year.

Ascent to fame (2019–present)
Later in 2019, Advani gained more recognition for his role in Shahid Kapoor’s love drama Kabir Singh, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie became her highest-grossing release with a global gross of nearly ₹378 crore (US$45 million), although critics criticized it because to its portrayal of toxic masculinity and misogyny. Her passive role “offers the actress little to work with,” as Rajeev Masand said.

After that, she costarred with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh in the comedy Good Newwz, which followed two couples as they experimented with in vitro fertilization. According to Namrata Joshi, “Dosanjh and Advani are all about the amplification of the boisterous, kitschy Punjabi stereotype but they play it with an infectious cheer.” Good Newwz and Kabir Singh both made over ₹200 crores at home, making them two of the highest-grossing movies of the year. Her portrayal in Good Newwz earned her the IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress.
