About Juss :

Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Juss Singn. I relocated from the DMV to Atlanta. Being Dominican, my Afro-Latina culture has greatly impacted the sound of my Caribbean/Afro beats. I have always loved to dance, even as a child! All kinds of music would make me dance, but particularly Latin and African sounds. What I do best is combine this love with my first love, singing, and I have never let fear or worry stop me from putting on a fantastic performance.

The recurring thread throughout my life has been faith over fear. Being spiritual and religious was a huge part of my upbringing, therefore we often talked about our faith. I have such a great sense of faith and belief in myself now because of this.

I firmly believe that I was destined for greatness, that I was born to triumph, that I was meant to inspire, that I was born a light, and that I was born free. My mother tells me the tale of how, as a baby, I would sing and dance while putting a spoon to my mouth and stepping on my tiptoes. Every time I hear that story, I chuckle. She claims that was the exact moment she realized I was a celebrity. She also shares the anecdote of how I used to search for talent in order to form a girl’s group for my annual elementary school talent presentations.

I recall having quite rigorous rules about every dancing move and vocal style during show rehearsals, which I held in my driveway. Every time, I wanted to perform an incredible show, and I always did. I never passed up the opportunity to show off my talent over my whole schooling, which included preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, and college. I sang at every barbecue, family get-together, and event there. So I knew I was born with it.

I am an overcomer, as I have stated. Even though I dared to sing and dance in front of an audience, I understood that I was conquering something much more significant: nervousness. That didn’t stop me because I had so much love and support.

It wasn’t until later in life that I gained any genuine knowledge regarding anxiety or panic attacks. I became aware of how debilitating it could be after witnessing my dad go through it. He demonstrated to me his strength as a fighter as well. We shared the fact that my enthusiasm outweighed my fear.

I had no idea that my own battle with anxiety and panic attacks would eventually bring me to a turning point in my life and serve as the inspiration for my new mental health brand, WE-SACRED, launching in 2024.

Despite not majoring in performing arts I participated in musical theater, chorus, talent shows, and several performances during the most of my time in college. Since it was what I loved and was destined to do, I was unable to leave it. Although society places a lot of emphasis on attending college and incurring debt for an education,

the truth is that there is never a 100% assurance that you will be able to find employment after graduation. I want a fresh start following my graduation from college in Maryland. Upon experiencing a difficult breakup and losing a close friend unexpectedly, I accepted my older brother’s invitation to relocate to Atlanta.

Finding a job that would pay me what I was worth proved to be challenging. I worked at a lot of different jobs, and eventually it got boring. I was first introduced to a multi-level marketing company by my brother that provided seminars on personal development. I soon discovered how to create the life I desired and began to dream once more.

That truly ignited something inside of me and made me realize that I was meant for much more than a 9 to 5. Life’s hectic schedule and the burden of debts and obligations can truly prevent you from dreaming and from understanding that you can achieve everything you set your mind to. We disregard our childlike capacity for dreaming and believe in ourselves.

One thing that my brother and I have in common was our love of music. I loved to sing, and he loved to freestyle. My parents used to force us to perform in front of the family every time we were young, and it never failed. So that’s what we did whenever we had the chance. We would put on a show for his crew on every road trip to the seminars on personal growth and development,

and it was fantastic! I continued to develop, work, learn, and sing as a result. One day, while I was having a moment to consider if I truly wanted to be a singer again, I realized that my preconceived notions about the music business and how grim it could be were also holding me back.

After a year or two, I was inspired to create a TikTok account and begin singing on it by someone very dear in my life. He saw my skill and gave me constant encouragement. He would tell me how much of a light I was and that I was free to pursue my goals in life. TikTok seemed to be the newest and greatest thing at the moment.

I had little experience with social media, so I wasn’t sure what to anticipate. I did believe that it would give me a terrific way to express myself while working a full-time job and that it would also help me show off my talent.

I therefore made the decision to broadcast my very first video and finally get out of my thoughts. Being able to do what I loved and feel free to do it was something I really enjoyed. After every singing video I made, I came up with a catchphrase. Juss Singn, in my opinion, following each video.

It began to gain traction. This name came from the idea of stepping outside of my own head and never letting anxious or pessimistic thoughts prevent me from accomplishing the things I was meant to do. It inspired me to take action on my goals and quit second-guessing myself. I kept posting because I cherished this.

One year, I was desperate to find my mother a wonderful Mother’s Day gift, but I was at a loss for ideas. I wanted some inspiration, so I gave my elder brother a call. I should write my mother a song, he offered. Though I had never written a song before, I felt it was a brilliant idea.

I accepted the assignment because I felt that singing an original song for her would be a wonderful gift. I was surprised to find that it wasn’t difficult at all. I was surprised at how comfortable I felt composing over an instrumental that I had chosen. I felt so good that day when I realized I had a whole new gift.
