After that, she took a month off from school to play in Sameer Thahir’s second Malayalam movie, Kali, which came out in March 2016. She was nominated for the Malayalam Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Growth and changes in a career (2017–present)
She made her Telugu film debut in 2017 as Bhanumathi, a fierce Telangana village girl, in Sekhar Kammula’s Fidaa. Her performance considers the movie to be among the “100 Greatest Performances of the Decade” according to Film Companion.[34] She later won the Telugu Best Actress Filmfare Award for the first time. Alongside Nani, she then acted in the critically and commercially successful Telugu action comedy Middle Class Abbayi in 2017.

Diya, her next release, was a bilingual Tamil-Telugu movie that did mediocrely at the box office.. She later acted opposite Dhanush in Balaji Mohan’s Maari 2, a Tamil film that was a follow-up to Maari (2015). On YouTube, a song from the movie “Rowdy Baby” broke the milestone by being the first song in Tamil and South Indian to receive over 1.5 billion views.

Pallavi began filming the movie  in February 2018 Sharwanand’s Padi Padi Leche Manasu  was a commercial failure. She costarred with Fahadh Faasil in the 2019 psychological Malayalam thriller Athiran as Nithya Lakshmi, a non-verbal autistic character. On May 31, 2019, her next Tamil movie, NGK, which was directed by Selvaraghavan and starred Suriya, was released.

She was named one of India’s 30 under 30 by Forbes magazine in 2020. The lone member of the film industry on the list was her. She also appeared in the Vetrimaaran-directed Oor Iravu section of the Netflix anthology film series Paava Kadhaigal.

She costarred with Naga Chaitanya in the romance drama Love Story, which was directed by Sekhar Kammula in 2021. This was her second work with Kammula, following Fidaa (2017) and Shyam Singa Roy with Nani. In their second collaboration following MCA, she played the charismatic Devadasi Maithreyi in Kolkata in the 1970s. She won the Best Actress and Critics Awards at the Filmfare Awards South for her roles in Shyam Singha Roy and Love Story.

She costarred with Rana Daggubati in the Telugu movie Virata Parvam in 2022. She played Vennela against the backdrop of the Naxalite movement in Telangana in the 1990s. Gautham Ramachandran, the director of Richie (2017), revealed his upcoming female-focused film.

Following Jyothika’s denial, Pallavi was selected to play a lead. The makers released a special preview of the movie on May 9, 2022, along with the announcement of the film. Regarding her Tamil movie Gargi,  She narrated her own lines in Kannada and Telugu.
